To finally cap off out Bare Outreach events, we presented Dan Savage with special token of our thanks as he spoke on American University’s campus this evening, and said to him and the AU community “It Gets Better.”
Thank you everyone who came to our wonderful matinee, and a big thank you to Andrew Barnett from SMYAL and Allison Gill from GLSEN for their expertise during our talkback.
It has been a wonderful experience, and thank you to everyone who has made our sold out run phenomenal. If you haven’t experienced the magic of Bare at American University, then get on the wait list to fill any seats of people who don’t show up.
After a very successful brush-up rehearsal for our guests from SMYAL, Dignity, and PFLAG last night, we officially re-open tonight at 8pm!
If you don’t have tickets, show up at will-call and hour before curtain to get your name on the wait list. If people don’t show up, you get their seats! Remember, it is first come, first served.
Also, if you are sit in the front row, please refrain from talking. It distracts the actors who are less than a foot away from you.
Tonight is our brush up rehearsal before we open again for our final weekend.
If you want to see the show, but couldn’t get tickets, arrive an hour before curtain and sign up for the wait list. If people don’t show up, then you get their seats. Remember, it’s first come, first serve!
Thank you all so much for joining us for the tears, the laughter, the joy, and the sorrow. Also, thank you to everyone who stayed for the talk back after the Matinee, and a special thank you to panelists Rev. Beth Irikura, Allen Rose, and Father Dr. Joseph Palacios.
For those of you who have seen the show, why not share your thoughts? Tell us what you thought about the show in our fan mailbox. For those of you who haven’t, we are anxiously waiting to see you in the Katzen Studio Theatre next Friday and Saturday.
A few things to remember for next weekend’s performances:
- Feel free to join us in recording a sentence of hope for our audience “It Gets Better Video” after each show. Sign up for it in the lobby and we will email you a copy when it’s finished.
- After the 2pm Matinee with will having our Struggles of Gay Adolescents Talkback with Alison Gill from GLSEN, Andrew Barnett from SMYAL, & Phil Hicks from PFLAG.
- If you don’t have a ticket but really want to see the show, please arrive at the theatre an hour before curtain and sign up for a spot on the wait-list. If paying patrons don’t arrive, then you can get their seats. It is first come, first serve.
In hopes of capturing the reactions that this show elicits and the impact of its message, after each performance we will be recording audience reactions for an “It Gets Better” video.
We will have a sign up sheet in the lobby, and the first 10 people to sign up will be recorded for the video.
Hope to see you there!
PS - Bring tissues!
